Interviews, tests and portfolios

Interviews and admissions tests do not normally form part of our admissions process, but there are some exceptions for specific programmes.

Interviews

You may be invited to an interview for degree programmes in:

  • medicine
  • nursing
  • teacher education
  • veterinary medicine

For medicine and veterinary medicine this will take the form of multiple mini-interviews.

We do not interview for entry to any other degree programmes.

The Reid School of Music does not interview or hold auditions as part of its selection process. If we require further performance background, we will ask you to provide this.

You can check the degree finder to see if there are specific interview requirements for any programmes you are interested in.

UCAT for entry to medicine

If you are applying to study medicine, you must sit the University Clinical Aptitude Test (UCAT) in 2025 before you submit your UCAS application, or apply for an exemption code from the UCAT consortium.

Portfolios for art or design

Applicants to art, design and fine art degrees will be asked to submit a digital portfolio. We will assess your portfolio as part of the selection process.

Portfolio submission guidance is published on the degree finder.
