What happens if you might be eligible for a Flag

If you are assigned a Flag, you’ll be prioritised for a place on degree programmes where competition for places is high.

You will still need to meet the standard entry requirements if you are assigned a Flag.

We will usually make you an offer before making offers to others who have achieved the same grades but who are not eligible for any type of widening access offer.

You are not guaranteed an offer if we assign you a Flag

We cannot always guarantee that you will receive an offer if you are a Flag applicant.

Offers are usually made to applicants who have achieved, or are predicted to achieve, the top of our standard entry requirement range (where one is stated) or the standard entry requirements. However, if competition for places is higher than expected, you may need grades above that level to receive an offer.

What you need to do next

If you think you might be eligible for a Flag offer, it’s important you fill out the relevant information in your UCAS application.

If you think the results of the checker tool might be incorrect, you can find more information on the differences between Flag and Plus Flag offers on our widening access criteria page.
