Applied with resits

We are often unable to offer places to applicants who have taken resits.

Resitting exams can put your application at a disadvantage. This is due to the number of applications we receive from candidates who are predicted to achieve our required grades at the first attempt.

Different colleges have different approaches to resits.

College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences

We will consider resits from applicants who have experienced serious disruption to their studies.

College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine

Biomedical sciences

We do consider applicants who have taken resits, but your application will not be as competitive as those who are predicted to achieve the same grades but in their first sitting.  However, this does not necessarily mean if you have resits that you will not receive an offer.

MBChB Medicine and Veterinary Medicine

We do not consider resits for any qualification. You must achieve your examination grades at your first attempt in each subject.

If you are applying with resit qualifications, we will not enter you into the selection process unless under very exceptional circumstances, for which you have provided verified evidence before applying through UCAS.
