19 November, 2pm to 3pm: Applying for a masters: what you need to know

Information and advice on what you need to consider before applying, and how to apply through our online application system, including the offer-making process.

19 November, 2pm to 3pm: What is a PhD? And how to apply

This session, delivered by our Doctoral College, will outline what a PhD degree is for and where it might lead. We will look at the application process such as finding a supervisor, applying online and tips to write a good application. 

19 November, 8pm to 9pm: So what exactly is a masters?

Find out about what a masters programme is, how it differs from undergraduate study and what the differences are between a postgraduate 'taught' programme (typically an MSc) and a 'research programme' such as a PhD or Masters by Research.

20 November, 11pm to 12pm: Developing your career through postgraduate study

The Development and Alumni Team and Careers Service will outline the range of career support and networking opportunities available for postgraduate students when you join us, during your studies and beyond graduation when you become part of our alumni community.

21 November, 10am to 11am: Paying for postgraduate study: a guide to fees and funding

Undertaking postgraduate study is a large financial (and life) commitment. To help you make an informed decision, you need the information, presented in as straightforward a manner as possible. Come along to this session to learn more about fees, fee status and how you pay. You will also find out how you may be able to afford postgraduate study, whether that be through a scholarship or other funding. For many postgraduate programmes, the University offers a 10% scholarship in tuition fees for alumni who have graduated with an undergraduate degree from the University of Edinburgh.
