Scholarships

The University of Edinburgh and other institutions offer scholarships you can apply for to cover some or all of your postgraduate study costs.

Scholarship providers

You can apply for scholarships from a variety of institutions, including:

  • the University of Edinburgh
  • government agencies
  • research councils
  • charitable trusts
  • external bodies like private companies

Combining scholarships with other sources of funding

Some scholarships will cover tuition fees and living costs, while others only cover full or partial tuition fees. If your scholarship only partially covers your study costs, you can combine it with funding from other sources, such as a postgraduate loan or personal savings.

When to apply for scholarships

You usually need to apply for your degree programme at the University of Edinburgh before you apply for scholarships that provide funding from the start of your studies. You should check scholarship application criteria carefully.

Funding opportunities for current students become available throughout the year.
