Venue accessibility, maps and more information to help you navigate our campuses at our undergraduate Open Day. Venue accessibility All University of Edinburgh venues being used for the Open Day are accessible with either level access or lifts. If you experience any difficulties accessing a building, ask any student wearing a red uniform or any member of staff, and we will be glad to assist you.We have created maps of our Open Day venues, which provide accessibility information including accessible entrances and routes around campus, as well as disabled parking bays.Where a lift is indicated for access to a lecture theatre, we would recommend arriving in good time for talks, in case a little extra time is required to enter. This lecture theatre is wheelchair accessible using a lift. However, due to fire safety regulations, you must be able to self-transfer in to an evacuation chair if there is a fire evacuation from this venue, or do so with the assistance of an accompanying guest. If this will not be possible, you can instead attend a live stream of the Biomedical Sciences talk in a ground floor lecture theatre.Edinburgh Futures InstituteFor talks in Room 2.35 and Room 2.55, direct level access is from the front entrance on Lauriston Place. For talks in the Event Space, direct level access is from the back of the building, not the front entrance on Lauriston Place.Old College (Law information desks)The step-free/wheelchair accessible entrance to the MacLaren Stewart Room at Old College is on Chambers Street, rather than from within the Quad where there is step access. Google map pin of Chambers Street access to Old CollegeThere will not be a staff member at this entrance, but there will be signage. Use the intercom to be let in by a member of staff.New College (Theology and Religious Studies)A lift in the building is currently unavailable due to works. This means that certain parts of the tour are not accessible to those using a wheelchair (Elizabeth Templeton Lecture Theatre and the New College Library). However, we can make special arrangements to visit the New College Library if you get in touch to request this in advance.Email ug.recruitment@ed.ac.uk AccessAble Guide We work with AccessAble to provide details about the accessibility of our buildings and facilities.Accessibility information for University of Edinburgh buildings (AccessAble website) Seating We expect that some of the talks at the Open Day will be very busy and will have queues for entry. If you or a guest have a mobility issue which makes standing difficult, let the staff member at any talks venue you are attending know when you arrive. They should be able to find you somewhere to sit while you wait to go into the lecture theatre. Accompanying guests While our policy is to prioritise prospective students for busier talks, if you will require an accompanying guest in talks to support you, let staff at the venue know and we can accommodate your guest.
