Introduction to Postgraduate Study

Next event: 14 January 2026. This online 1.5 hour session takes place three times a year and gives a general overview of postgraduate study at Edinburgh.

Who this session is for

This session is for you if you are:

  • in the early stages of thinking about Edinburgh as a possible choice for postgraduate study
  • interested in on-campus degree programmes
  • interested in either a postgraduate taught or research degree programme

Concise, yet broad. Also, I think the links to more finite resources will be helpful. The website can be a lot to sort through and the session simplified a lot of that.

What this session covers

The online session will be led by a member of our student recruitment team and a current postgraduate student, who will share their first-hand experiences of Edinburgh life.

We will:

  • provide an introductory overview of what postgraduate study is all about and how it works at Edinburgh (and in Scotland and the UK more generally)
  • introduce the fantastic city where we're based and where you'll stay if you're undertaking on-campus study
  • tell you about the University itself (including the support and services on offer)

Degree programme-specific content not covered

This session does not include degree programme-specific content. If you are looking to speak with academic staff or programme teams, contact staff directly using details provided on the degree finder.
