Equivalent qualifications for postgraduate study

You must hold one of the following bachelors degrees, studied at a recognised institution:

bachelors degree in Engineering studied for at least 5 years
Bachelors of Law with honours studied for at least 4 years
Bachelors of Medicine studied for at least 5 years
Bachelors of Surgery studied for at least 5 years
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine studied for at least 5 years
Bachelors of Science with honours in Optometry studied for at least 5 years from Mzuzu University

If you have not studied one of these degrees at a recognised institution, you are typically required to have a masters degree with an overall score of 70% or higher.

UK degree percentages

If a programme requires you to achieve a specific UK percentage, use these ranges to help determine what you need in the qualification you studied.

A first class ranges from 70% to 100%.
A 2:1 ranges from 60% to 69%.

For example, if a programme asks for at least 65%, this would be halfway between the equivalent of a 2:1 and first class in the qualification you studied.

PhD entry

We do not accept any masters degree studied in Malawi for PhD entry.

If you have a masters degree from another country, select that country from the dropdown menu.

English language requirements

You must prove that your English language abilities are at a high enough level to study your degree programme.

Graduate entry for undergraduate degree programmes

If you are applying for an undergraduate degree programme with graduate entry, the equivalent qualifications for postgraduate study apply. However, the requirements for Veterinary Medicine (Graduate Entry Programme - 4-year programme) BVM&S may be higher.
